This instructional research facility offers a dynamic setting for a unique hands-on training and educational program for WPI and the life sciences workforce. Located in the Gateway Park Life Sciences Campus at WPI, the BETC is a unique partnership between academia and industry, providing laboratory and training facilities designed for instruction in a range of industry-standard process areas – including equipment preparation and sterilization, buffer and media preparation, fermentation and cell culture, and laboratory analytics. Students in the facility benefit from exposure to realistic scenarios and process guided by industry experts in life sciences. The facility is designed with flexibility in mind, incorporating mobile casework and equipment, as well as adaptable utility infrastructure. This unique facility includes a small scale laboratory, 200-L pilot plant, media preparation rooms, and a 40 seat state of the art classroom facility – all designed to enable group training and a hands-on educational experience.
