The Morrill Science Center houses an active and vibrant research community with teaching and research activities from several different departments, however ongoing deferred maintenance and required infrastructure upgrades pose risks to the continued successful operations of these activities. Commissioned by the Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance, the goal of this study was to conduct a comprehensive review of all aspects of the facility, identifying issues and proposing necessary and suggested improvements to ensure the continued operational success of the building. Spanning across the five buildings and 354,000 gross square feet included in the Center, the study primarily focused on code and accessibility upgrades, deferred maintenance planning, energy/reliability improvements, and programmatic improvements to establish the highest and best use of the spaces within. As a result of the team’s efforts, forty-six prioritized projects were identified and organized in order of importance to provide a road map for renewal which would allow the building to improve the quality of its research environments within over time.
